Suicide Awareness and Suicide Response for Primary Care Training

Bespoke Connecting with People training specifically developed for clinical staff in Primary Care by 4 Mental Health. Underpinned by evidence-based principles and coproduced with clinicians, for clinicians.

This course is a mixed delivery format of two compulsory modules:

  • PART A: Suicide Awareness for Professionals eLearning (1.5 hours)
  • PART B*: Suicide Response for Primary Care Live Webinar (2 hours)

*Note: Participants must complete Part A before attending Part B

By booking, you will be required to complete both PART A eLearning and attend the PART B live webinar session.

PART A: Suicide Awareness for Professionals e-Learning

  • Completed online before attending PART B at own pace and time, with option to ‘save and resume’ the training.
  • Tackles myths, stigma and barriers around suicide.
  • Explains how distress develops and how people can be supported.
  • Develops a compassionate approach for time-pressured
    professionals.
  • Explains Safety Planning, with participants making their own
    personal Safety Plan.

PART B: Suicide Response for Primary Care – Live Webinar

(You will be required to attend the live webinar session on: Tuesday 29th July 14:00 – 16:00)

Must have completed PART A eLearning before attending

  • Trains clinicians to use SAFETool – a clinical assessment framework and co-produced Safety Plan.
  • Avoids unsafe and ineffective practice of risk prediction so ALL assessments include a co-produced Safety Plan.
  • Common language reduces organisational barriers: ideal at times of triage, and referral (if required).
  • Shares practical strategies for use by a busy clinician and Primary Care Team.

After completion of both formats, you will receive:

  • 3.5 CPD hours Attendance Certificates
  • Detailed Participant Booklets
  • Editable SAFETool pdf template
  • License to use EMIS and SystmOne SAFETool template where available
  • Free access to SAFETool Support eLearning, completed at own pace to practice using SAFETool
