Suffolk Enhanced Service (ES) – Spirometry Update, Training & Equipment Distribution

Thank you for signing up to the Suffolk Enhanced Service (ES) for Spirometry, and for your continued patience as we finalise arrangements for training and equipment distribution.

Firstly, we extend our sincere thanks to GP Primary Choice (GPPC) for stepping in to deliver an emergency Spirometry provision during a period of significant need. This temporary arrangement concluded on 31 March 2025,  however GPPC will continue to process all referrals received up to this date and, where capacity allows, will see patients already referred into the service.

We would like to take this opportunity to provide an update on the current position and respond to some of the concerns raised regarding ARTP accreditation.

Please be assured that ARTP-accredited training is not a requirement for delivering spirometry within Primary Care across the SNEE system. Practices are supported to deliver spirometry under locally agreed competency frameworks.

To support service delivery, we are pleased to offer the following Spirometry training sessions:

  • 15th May – Ipswich (Full Day)
  • Morning: Performing Spirometry – For HCAs
  • Afternoon: Interpreting Spirometry – For Nurses
  • 11th June – Bury St Edmunds (Full Day)
  • Morning: Performing Spirometry – For HCAs
  • Afternoon: Interpreting Spirometry – For Nurses

Equipment Update:

(For practices and PCNs participating in the ES)

  • FeNO Devices are now available for collection from Endeavour House, or will be delivered to practices within the next two weeks. Alternatively, devices can be collected at either of the training sessions.

SpiroConnect Devices:

  • These require a license and registration through Numed. You will shortly receive an email from Numed to complete a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for their i3 integration software. Once completed, devices will be delivered to Endeavour House.

If your practice already has trained staff and experience using SpiroConnect devices, you will receive your device within two weeks of registration.

Please email [email protected] to confirm and arrange delivery.

For practices whose staff are new to SpiroConnect, devices will be issued following completion of training on one of the scheduled training dates above.

If you have any further questions or require additional support, please don’t hesitate to contact us at: [email protected]
