PRIMARY CARE TRAINING NEEDS SURVEY FOR 2025/2026

Overview

Suffolk and North East Essex Training Hub’s key aim is to establish a local education and training infrastructure to help support the primary care workforce of today and tomorrow to ensure they have the necessary skills, values and behaviours to deliver high quality care.

Why do we collect data on training and development needs?

SNEE Training Hub is accountable to NHSE and Suffolk and North East Essex ICB to support existing and future workforce across primary care. One of the key objectives is to deliver quality education and training which supports the primary care workforce to deliver safe patient care. Your feedback is vital to ensure we shape and plan a robust training offer that prioritises training needs for the year ahead.

SNEE Training Hub aims to:

  • Facilitate and/or deliver opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes
  • Deliver, co-ordinate and lead in education and training across SNEE.
  • The “go to” place for information about primary care workforce, education, and development.

Who can complete the survey?

The survey is open to all staff working within the PCNs and general practice across SNEE primary care. As well as those considering a move or a return back to work within primary care.

Your response should be aligned with your Personal Development Plan and in agreement with your line manager.

What do we do with the information?

The information provided gives us evidence to plan forward and support any opportunities for future learning development fund bids.

The data collected assists in planning:

  • Continued Professional Development (CPD) training programme which is open and available to all workforce working across general practice within primary care.
  • Complete relevant NHSE commissioning templates with view to bid for relevant clinical modules/training such as Advanced Practice or Non-Medical Prescribing.
  • Commission relevant educational training that supports population health management for clinical and non-clinical staff.

Do we share results?

From the results, we will share and present a summary report to local Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and Training Co-Ordinators to support any local discussions about workforce needs.

The survey is anonymous. However, if you feel that you need to contact the Training Hub in regards to any of the training related questions. Please contact your PCN Training Co-ordinator or email: [email protected]

Do individual opinions matter?

Yes absolutely! By completing the annual Training Needs Survey, you are helping to shape future training and education offers that continues to equip staff with skills and knowledge to deliver safe and effective patient care.

Although, you may have specific training needs, there may well be similarities in terms of training requirements across the primary care workforce. We hope this will support value for money when we are planning future education programmes.
